Responsibilities

As an Environmental Services Cleaner, your duties will include:

  • Performing routine and deep cleaning in patient rooms, clinical areas, and common spaces
  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
  • Disinfecting surfaces and medical equipment according to healthcare standards
  • Restocking supplies in bathrooms and other facility areas
  • Stripping linens and making beds
  • Operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor care and maintenance
  • Washing ceilings, windows, and other surfaces thoroughly
  • Handling and disposing of hazardous waste safely
  • Replenishing cleaning supplies and linens
  • Identifying and reporting hazards to supervisors
  • Assisting in training or orienting new staff when required

Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following:

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education
  • Basic knowledge of computers and smartphones
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Physical capability to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Willingness to work with chemical cleaners and industrial equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Attendance at mandatory training sessions, including Environmental Services Orientation

  • Knowledge of floor refinishing techniques, including stripping and waxing
