Responsibilities
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for facilitating metalworking, assembly, and fabrication processes. Key responsibilities include:
- Operating metalworking machinery such as brakes, shears, saws, and punches.
- Fabricating piece parts according to schematics under supervision.
- Assembling fabricated parts into final products.
- Reading blueprints and programming machinery to produce required components.
- Inspecting and maintaining equipment, reporting malfunctions to supervisors.
- Assisting tradespeople and supervisors to ensure project progress safely.
- Organizing and maintaining a clean department, including end-of-day cleanup.
- Notifying supervisors of unsafe conditions or practices.
- Moving materials using forklifts or overhead cranes if trained and authorized.
- Performing duties in compliance with Silent-Aire safety programs and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Participating in training for new projects or equipment as required.
Requirements
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or apprenticeship in metalworking is preferred.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, from raw materials to finished products.
- Familiarity with safe practices and operational procedures in industrial manufacturing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with team members and supervisors.
- Must have reliable personal transportation due to limited public transit to the facility.
